Larry Eugene Thompson's Obituary
Larry Eugene Thompson, 81, died on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his home following a prolonged illness.
He leaves his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Knight) Thompson; sons, Daniel Eugene Thompson, David Glynn Thompson, Douglas Bruce Thompson, Darryl William Thompson, and David Alan Thompson. He had thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was born and raised in Milledgeville, Georgia. After graduating from Louisville High School in Louisville, MS in 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he worked as an aircraft electrician. Upon completion of his service, he attended Auburn University and graduated with a degree in Electronic Engineering in 1960.
Larry had a life-long passion for scuba diving. He enjoyed traveling to dive spots in the Caribbean and Central America.
He had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. He was a genuine friend to everyone he met and positively impacted them with his kind, generous and inquisitive nature. He was truly loved and respected by all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A cremation was performed and a private memorial service will be scheduled at a later time.
