Laura Bodenheimer's Obituary
Laura Michelle Bodenheimer, age 27, of Denver, NC passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2015 after a five-year battle with cancer. She fought bravely with courage, determination and dignity. Laura will always be remembered for her beautiful spirit and her zest for life.
Laura was a 2005 graduate of East Lincoln High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2009. During her extensive treatments for cancer, she believed that she received a calling to help others who were suffering. She began her dream of becoming a physical therapist at East Carolina University where she was a graduate student and member of the Class of 2017.
Laura is survived by her parents, Tony and Joan Bodenheimer of the home in Denver, one sister, Melanie Butler, her brother-in-law Hunter Butler, and nephew Harrison Butler of Cary. Other survivors include her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Bodenheimer of Winston-Salem, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Culler of Winston-Salem, and Audrey Culler of High Point.
Laura was an avid reader. She loved all types of music, cooking, baking bread, and going to coffee shops. Her greatest passion was spending time with her friends and family.
A memorial service will be held at Hopewell Presbyterian Church in Huntersville, NC on Friday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends following the service in the Family Life Center at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Lincoln County, Levine Children’s Hospital or the National Institutes of Health.
