Mary Elaine was one of a kind! I feel so lucky to have been her friend and roommate in Chicago. Her spirit was like no other - generous, thoughtful, and courageous. Mar had a magical way to make you feel like she couldn't be happier than to be spending time with you. Just the best! Her family meant everything to her - please accept my deepest sympathies. I grew up with the Howe family as they lived in the Gesu Parish neighborhood in Detroit with my family. We both had the good fortune of being a part of a large loving family. The Howes were members of the Detroit Golf Club and swam on the swim team along with me and my siblings. What great times we had at swim meets and just hanging at the pool causing trouble! Mary Elaine was a very loving, inclusive, and fun person to be with. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family.
