In January of 2020, a quiet, keep-to-himself kind of guy moved in beside our family. He had no idea he was moving in beside the chattiest five-year-old who had personal boundaries. Our middle son, Gavin, was so excited to have a new neighbor. When Gavin found out our new neighbor had a cat & a truck with flashing lights, he would watch out our front door until Matt got home from work. Gavin would run out to greet him, turn the lights on & off in his truck, say hey to Tabitha, talk Matt’s ear off & come home. Over the past five & half years, not much had changed. Gavin knew Matt's schedule, he would talk to Matt every chance he got, even got his number to just call & talk sometimes. I think Matt enjoyed those conversations just as much as Gavin.
While it wasn't your typical friendship, I know it is one Gavin will always cherish.
