Maureen Stiene's Obituary
Maureen (Hubert) Stiene, 72, of Huntersville, NC, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2022.
Maureen was a native of Sullivan County, NY, where she married Henry Jesse Stiene and raised two children. An educator her whole life, she served as the principal of St. Peter’s Regional School in Liberty, NY, and taught religious education at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Monticello, NY. She also spent many hours supporting her children in their various activities, including Little League, horseback riding, 4-H, and Boy Scouts.
Maureen and Henry moved to Huntersville, NC, in 2008 to be closer to family and later their grandchildren. She was a member of Saint Mark Catholic Church and volunteered and worked at Latta Place Historic Site.
Maureen is survived by her husband of 50 years, Henry Stiene; two children and their spouses, Melissa (Bill) Baker and Matt (Tammy) Stiene; five grandchildren, Sofia, Eliza, Jaxon, Kevin, and Michael; brother Tim Hubert; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Florence Hubert, and brother Fred Hubert.
The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 4, 11:00 AM at Saint Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville, and can be livestreamed at stmarknc.org. The interment will follow the funeral mass at Northlake Memorial Gardens in Huntersville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3, from 5:00-7:00 PM at James Funeral Home in Huntersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance or Saint Mark Catholic Church.
