Max J. Southers' Obituary
Max J. Southers, a man known for his dedication to family, service, and adventure, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2024. Born in Lima, Ohio on November 20, 1947, to Clyde and Marvalee Southers, Max lived a life filled with purpose and joy.
Max proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. His commitment to service extended beyond the military, as he actively supported Sertoma, Inc., an organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with hearing loss. Max's compassion and willingness to help others were cornerstones of his character.
A lover of the outdoors, Max found solace and excitement in golf, photography, and sailing. He was known for his keen eye behind a lens, his skillful swing on the green, and his unwavering sense of adventure on the open water. Whether he was capturing that perfect shot, navigating a challenging course or charting a journey across the waves, Max embraced life with enthusiasm and determination.
In later years, Max found his true north in North Carolina, where he built a loving life with his wife, Dianne. Together, they embarked on numerous adventures, traveling to various parts of the world and collecting memories along the way. Their love story, a testament to their unwavering commitment and shared laughter, continues to inspire all who knew them.
Max leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and adventure. He is survived by his wife, Dianne, his daughters Theresa Grantman (Jim) and Dawn Southers (Emily), his son Stephen Southers (Julie), his brother Scott Southers (Ruth), his sister Kandi Ahern, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Susan Southers, and his brother Gregory Southers.
Max's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
