Michael Francis Kenney's Obituary
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Francis Kenney of Huntersville, NC on January 18, 2026.
In his courageous and long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Michael faced an overwhelming, silent struggle. While we are heartbroken, we take comfort in knowing Michael is finally at peace and free from the pain of both body and mind.
Born on January 17, 1967, Michael was the son of the late John and Frances (Shea) Kenney. A native of Sayville, New York, Michael was a proud Army Veteran of the 10th Mountain Division. He was an avid sports fan, and although he moved to North Carolina 23 years ago, he never lost his love and passion for his New York teams., the Rangers, Knicks, and Jets.
Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Sean Patrick, Shane Michael; his daughter, Michaela Lee Kenney; his sister, Maryanna Conboy; and his brothers, Paul, Gavin, Neil, and Rev. Sean Kenney.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kerry Afflitto; his brothers, Kevin, Colin, infant Michael; brother-in-law, James Conboy; and sister-in-law, Cristina Kenney.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 5:00 - 8:00pm, at James Funeral Home of Huntersville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026, 11:00am, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Huntersville. Interment will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, 11:00am, at Salisbury National Cemetery.
