Nannie Timmons' Obituary
Nannie Willie Timmons aka “Nancy” passed away on November 16, 2020. Nancy was born in Roxboro NC, later transplanted to Fort Greene, Crown Heights/Brownsville, Brooklyn and finally Laurelton, NY. She was the “middle child” born to George Washington Rogers and Mary Molly Brooks, of a total of 9.
Typically a quiet, petite force to be reckoned with, Nannie danced to her own beat, not often concerned with what others thought. In the late 80’s she relocated to Oviedo, FL, where she retired from The University of Central Florida.
Nancy's family, friends and loved ones knew her for being of few words but when the corner of her lip turned up and she slowly rolled her eyes towards you, you knew to brace yourself for what might be coming. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, doting great grandmother, beloved sibling, aunt and so much more to so many. While our hearts are heavy, we find it not robbery, being she poured into her family and friends for greater than eight decades! That’s nothing to be sad about. She will forever remain in our hearts, thoughts & even actions. We find joy in knowing she lived a full and successful life, on her own terms. While she will be sorely missed, we were extremely blessed to have had so many years to share with her. As our mother and your grandmother/ sister/ aunt/ niece/ friend descends to Heaven, rejoice in her crossing over to eternal peace. We say “goodbye” to this earthly life and look forward to seeing her again, on the other side.
