I just sent Patty a note about 3 weeks ago telling her she was on my mind. Not hearing from her I knew something was up and just found out today about her passing. I am so so sorry to see this. I knew she was fighting the fight and she had been in my prayers but I guess the Good Lord needed another angel.
I worked with Patty starting in 1990 in Charlotte, we were outside adjusters together. I worked with her through her two pregnancies. I recall her story of Chester spraying her newly cleaned police uniforms and she neutered him right then and there. I recall Patty being pregnant and craving a special sandwich from the Greek Festival downtown Charlotte; well we drove down, found a parking space, picked up our phoned in orders, drove back to work and sat down to eat when she opened her styrofoam container to find it filled with kumquats. My goodness she had a come apart and I thought she would hurt someone.
I loved her and will forever be grateful for having spent a few years with her. I know without a shadow of a doubt that she loved her grandchild and I am so glad Dillon and his wife had her while Patty was alive to spend time with her. My prayers to her family for their comfort are sent. She will be greatly missed and I am glad I knew her.

I was blessed to have been Patty and Bob’s backyard neighbor for 20 years. My first favorite memory was when we heard Patty call from the back porch, “Hey Bob- Did you call the utility department to find out where the lines are?” His reply, “Nah don’t need to,” when Bob was digging holes for their fence. Needless to say- the block’s electricity went out within 30 minutes. I knew I’d like this woman! We both had two children. Our boys just two months apart. They would run back and forth our yards their adolescence. We shared memories, meals, laughter, holidays, and tears. I can genuinely tell you Patty was a magnificent soul, friend-family, parent, wife, neighbor, employee, vocalist and the list goes on. We lost touch when I remarried and moved away. Although I know in my heart neither far from each other’s thoughts and hearts. I received a blessing - a sign to visit Patty in March. That afternoon we shared some stories and laughs. She recounted we will always be family. Dearest Bob, Courtney and Dalton and spouses-from my family to yours...she will forever be in our hearts. With our deepest sympathies- Patty and John Smith and Michael and Megan Wunsch.

I'm struggling with what to write here, simple because I want to get it right. Patty knew for a long time that her illness would cause her family to be without her someday. As was her nature, she didn't show sadness for herself, but was sad that she wouldn't be there to comfort them.
Patty loved her family deeply. So deeply, in fact, that I am convinced that she remains embedded in their hearts so that she IS here to be of comfort.
In the midst of her own challenges, she arrived on my doorstep a few years ago to contribute to people in need during the holidays. She was selfless and giving and loved.
The Reynolds house is always surrounded by vehicles. Because Patty had an open door concept. For some of us, that is difficult to imagine. For her, it was a joy.
Dalton and Courtney, your mom loved you so very much. She left behind a legacy of two outstanding young people. What a woman she was!

My condolences to the entire Reynolds family for their loss of a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She will be sorely missed by all of us. I know the Lord has welcomed her with open arms!

Patty and I shared a long friendship dating back to our law enforcement days. Our friendship, however, was different in that while we were not BFF per se but rather a shared non-familia kinship, so to speak. It was based on shared common experiences that continued to ebb and flow, overlap and/or inter-twine over the years. We initially met in late 1981 while I was with another agency prior to coming to HPPD. While at HPPD, she was on Charlie Team and I was on Edward Team so our rotating shifts would periodically overlap. It was during one of those late night overlapping shifts we shared career aspirations. While we both loved police work, we each felt there was something else out there for us. That led to each of us joining Integon Insurance as claim adjusters together in 1985. Even there, our careers diverged by taking separate paths. We both eventually left Integon for other insurance positions elsewhere but that shared root investigative characteristic continued to inter-twine with our shared experience in NCICIE, an insurance based organization dedicated to investigating fraud in conjunction with law enforcement. We also shared an enjoyment of teaching, i.e. training classes at the annual NCICIE conference, insurance continuing ed classes, etc. We stayed in touch over the years through bouncing work related issues, career decisions, etc. of each other and oftentimes, with our departed good friend, Jim Wood. Most recently, however, we tended to simply share photos and stories of family - most notably, grandchildren and our shared faith in God. Those shared times were like wrapping up on your favorite chair with blanket - a comfortable, warm and easy feeling. A good friend.

To paraphrase Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7; she has fought the good fight, she has finished the race and she kept the faith.

Rest in peace now, Patty Reynolds.
