It is one of life's ironies that it is at the end of Joe's life on earth that we learn more
about him than he ever spoke about in the many moments of conversation we enjoyed with him.
This is because when you talked with Joe, he put the focus of his attention on you. We always
felt a sense of the very special nature of this gentleman. In reflecting now on the details
of how Joe dedicated his life to his family, his country, his friends and neighbors, our
feeling of loss is most profound. But we rejoice that our neighborhood has been so enriched
by the presence of Joe Manley and his courageous and loving wife, Boots. We give thanks to God for
for the happy coincidence of sharing our Spinnaker Point community with this remarkable couple.
