Pedro’s Auntie Maria and I worked together at the Westgate Mall in Brockton in the eighties. Her mom used to bring “Poopie” to visit in his stroller. He was charismatic as a baby; always smiling with those chubby cheeks, big, dark eyes and a head full of wild black hair. Maria was understandably crazy about him and always kept me up to date on his milestones and the joy he brought to his family.
Fast forward and an adult Pedro has retained that charisma. A loving, devoted, husband to Tasha and father to Joell & Josiah. His determination to fight his demons and be the best dad he could be was legendary. His love and appreciation for his mother Dolores ran deep, after all she set the good parenting bar high.
I feel so very lucky and so honored to have known him.
Dolores, I have so much admiration for you raising him so well through good times and bad. What you must be feeling is beyond my ability to imagine. I pray for your peace of mind. Remember, you brought an incredible human into this world and gave him all of your love and he made a beautiful difference for so many people. Angel, you stepped in at a difficult time and became a wonderful stepfather to him. You were both lucky! I pray for your pain to subside.
Tasha, I am so sorry for your loss. He loved you so much and knew how lucky he was to have you. May you find some level of comfort knowing he lives in your amazing sons.
Joell & Josiah, what a joy to know you two. Your lives will be forever changed but you will always carry your dad’s love in your hearts. May your sadness be tempered by the power of his love for you.
Christina may you find peace in the memories of a loving nephew whose life you’ve been a part of since his birth.
Josh, I know he was more like brother than a cousin to you and his departure has left an empty space where his love and caring nature used to sit with you. Keep him safe in your heart always.
Jackie, without you none of these amazing humans would exist. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. No grandparent should ever have to see a grandchild pass. May your inner strength and your loving family bring you peace in this unbearable time.
Maria, dear, loving friend Maria. You know that I am here for you as are my family members who love and care about you so much. Thank you for sharing your family with us. “Poopie” will never be forgotten.
