Penny Gillespie's Obituary
Penny Lloyd Gillespie, 59, of Huntersville fought cancer for 13 years and passed away peacefully Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born on February 7, 1953 in Charlotte, NC. Penny graduated from N. Mecklenburg High School in 1971. She worked at Sunox for 20 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents Master Sargent Douglas and Jean Lloyd and sister Patti Nutt of Cornelius, NC.
Survivors include husband, Wayne Gillespie of Huntersville; daughters, Amy Haigler and husband Matt of Midland, NC, Whitney Ricciardi and husband Jimmy of Indian Land, SC; sister Pam Sparrow and husband Frank of Huntersville, NC; uncle Roy Moore of Cornelius, NC; niece Jennifer Jackson and husband Jamie Jackson of Huntersville, NC and nephew Justin Sparrow of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren Cassie and Caleb Haigler, Trey and Macy Gillespie; and great nephews Dylan and Evan Jackson.
The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Monday, October 22, 2012 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Dr., Huntersville. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Huntersville with burial following in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial can be made to Presbyterian Hospice and Palliative Care at PO Box 33549 Charlotte, NC 28233. The family would like to thank the staff of the Harris Hospice Unit for their love and care.
