Reginald "Reg" Jay Louey, Jr., 79, of Concord, passed away peacefully at his home on June 17, 2026.
Born on July 26, 1946, in Malone, New York, Reg was the son of the late Reginald Jay Louey, Sr. and Ruth Louey.
Reg proudly served his country in both the United States Army and the Air National Guard. He dedicated much of his professional life to protecting people and the environment through his work as a Pesticide Control Specialist with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. Following his distinguished career, he founded his own business, Pesticide Training and Consulting, where he shared his expertise and passion for education with professionals throughout the industry.
A gifted craftsman, Reg was an avid woodworker who found joy in creating beautiful, handcrafted pieces for family and friends. He also loved gardening and took great pride in nurturing both flowers and vegetables, finding peace and satisfaction in the outdoors and with nature.
Above all else, Reg was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest love was his wife, Carolyn, with whom he shared nearly 47 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on love, commitment, and family. He treasured time spent with his children and grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments.
Reg is survived by his son, Jonathan Louey and wife, Caroline, of Freeville, New York; his daughter, JoEllen Habel and husband, Michael, of Charlotte, North Carolina; his siblings, Clea, Wayne, Jerry, Terry, and Carey; and his beloved grandchildren, Alex, Joey, and Ben.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Louey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to a nonprofit organization supporting pancreatic cancer research, such as the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN), in Reg's memory.
A service honoring Reg's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, at James Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
