Richard George Kraus' Obituary
Richard George Kraus, 73, of Huntersville, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2020. He is survived by his wife Sharon, Daughter Kimberly and Son Douglas.
Born in Pittsburgh PA on November 15, 1946, where he is survived by a brother George “Skip” Kraus and his wife Judy, and a sister Gerri Wilson and her husband Jim, late siblings Judy, Dennis, and Virginia, and many nieces and nephews and extended family. He always remained a loyal Steeler fan.
Richard and his family moved to Huntersville NC in 1997. He was a loving and devoted father to Kimberly, recently engaged to Tyler Moon of Sarasota, Florida and Douglas and his long-time girlfriend Tara Heffner.
Richard was a signalman in the US Navy with service in Vietnam. He owned and operated “Sunshine Hair Salons” in Pittsburgh with six locations. After retirement from a long career in Real Estate, he began a new fun career as a traveling Poker Dealer, dealing the WSOP Tournament in Las Vegas as well as across the country and Latin America.
Thanks to all his health care providers at the Charlotte and Salisbury VA System, where he received such excellent service.
He and Sharon loved to travel and golf. His big, bold personality and sense of humor brought laughter and smiles to many.
A funeral service will be held at 5:30 PM Tuesday, February 4 with visitation to follow until 8:00 PM, all at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC. Deacon Louis Pais will officiate. Burial will take place at 10 AM Wednesday at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC.
