When ever I would walk my dog and come up to the Pope house Richard would holler at me and tell me how much he enjoyed seeing my pictures I posted on Facebook of my layovers. That always made me feel good that Richard liked them. I wish miss seeing him on my walks.
When you have friends like the Popes, you have friends forever! While we got to know Richard and Debbie under some tough medical circumstances, the friendship with both was instantaneous. A couple of veterans with Charleston backgrounds and mutual interests meeting in Florida was the beginning of a great relationship and one we will cherish forever. Rest in peace my friend.
Many happy memories of flying with him, will miss his smile.
It was an honor to meet Richard and Debbie while camping in Selma, NC April, 2022. They are true patriots!! And Richard (as a Veteran himself) was pleased to know that our organization helps with wounded veterans as he wanted to learn more about us during our camping introduction. Found out from Debbie that he proudly wore the Truckin4Troops t-shirt that we had given him. May he rest in peace and NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!! Prayers and blessings from Scott and Lynne.
