While I was going through some of Mom's papers I found this poem a friend of Mom's from California wrote her as a goodbye tribute when my parents moved to North Carolina in 2003.
"ODE To RITA"
She may not be famous or listed in "Who's Who," but wherever there's a service needed, Rita always will come through.
It might be in "Lambies, Noah's Ark, or Teddy Bears, but we could always depend on Rita to come to share the load, with hugs and love for every child there.
Whenever a spot was needed for the leaders luncheon or some other function, Rita was ever the hostess who made us feel so welcome and warm in her and her "sweetie pie's" home.
In Rita, Holy Spirit love and joy abound with her continuous smile, humor, and enthusiasm so contagious to everyone around.
And we'll never forget the leader retreats filled with giggles and laughter, with Rita's antics and tales remembered for many years after.
It's not the big celebrities in this world of fortune and fame who leave impressions on our lives that forever remain. But it's those who like our Rita, light up the corner wherever they are, to the glory of His name.
You will be missed so much dear Rita, but knowing we'll one day be united in those mansions reserved above, we'll send you off to North Carolina with God's blessings and lots and lots of love.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Love, Lynne
How fitting this beautiful tribute is for my Mom then and now. Thank you Lynne!
