Robert "Bobby" J. Hoffman, 68, of Huntersville, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House. Bobby was a native of Roselle, NJ, the son of Robert and Jane Hoffman. He graduated from The United States Mil Read Obituary

I’m so sorry to hear about Bob's passing. He was an incredible guy. Short (to me, I am 6'7") guy with a HUGE heart! I loved knowing him and playing sports with him and against him. He was always very competitive, but always shared a smile and laugh afterward. The world will miss him.

Oh Barbara-
So deeply sad today to hear from you about Bob .....So sad that this man of great love and affection has left us too soon. When I met Bobby in 1993 he had already lived a "full life", overflowing with leadership, adventure, a car with hundred of thousands of miles on it, and amazing beer drinking abilities. He was "semi-retired" but he never had any excuses as he kicked our butts most everyday on the HK basketball courts. His smile, belly laugh, and enormous hugs will NEVER be forgotten. Never have I met a more loving and generous man. Love never felt so genuine as in the presence of Bob Hoffman. We all miss him, and send you and you children prayers today for comfort and great love.

Katie and I are so sad to hear about Bobby. We will miss him. I remember him as one of the best athletes that I ever knew…and we both remember him as one of the kindest and gentlest spirits that ever walked the earth.
It is hard to add much to Bob Harper’s or to Ed Kelly’s reminiscences. I remember his long effortless stride that left everyone in the dust except Jed Cantley and his dog. I remember Bobby’s wonderful competitive spirit that always won and that was always gracious in winning.
I always tried to be on Bobby’s team. He was a consummate team player.
Katie and I remember a wonderful, joyful spirit…and we are saddened by your loss.

I’ve only met a few great men in my time, and had fewer great friends, Bob was both. The memories of watching the tournament, and tailgating with Bob, Martin and Ted are the best. Our golf and tournament trips were epic, the Indy 500 was great, and going to Cameron and sitting behind his beloved Blue Devils bench a blast!
Although he always led, I knew he had our back. He made our lives better.

Bobby Hoffman was a tremendous athlete, coach, mentor, Army officer, classmate and friend. He inspired me to run farther and faster as he helped me prepare for my first marathon.
