Robert Patrick Sheehy's Obituary
Robert Patrick Sheehy , 62, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of New York, died on January 17, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family after an extended and valiant fight against cancer. Patrick was born in New York, NY to the late Daniel and Ruth Fox Sheehy on October 19, 1950.
Patrick and his wife moved to Charlotte in 2008. He enjoyed racquetball, swimming, bicycle riding, walking, listening to music, reading, and the New York Times crossword puzzles. With an extensive career as an Electrical Engineer, Patrick could not only build, fix, create, and solve any and all challenges around the house and car, but was always acquiring, adopting, and improving upon the latest technological devices.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 34 years, Irene, sons, Benjamin Gioia (Jennifer) of Napa, CA, and Patrick Sheehy (Kerry) of Forest Hills, NY and daughters, Kathryn Sheehy of Brooklyn, NY, Maeve Sheehy and Alice Sheehy of Charlotte, NC and his treasured grandson, Jacob. Other survivors include siblings, Daniel Sheehy (Marcia), Danville, CA, Kathleen Riethman, Tempe, AZ, J. Michael Sheehy (Georgene), Pleasantville, NY, Timothy Sheehy (Tammy), Princeton, MA, and Margaret Mepham (William), Sudbury, MA. Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law are Edward McLaughlin, New York, NY, Gregory McLaughlin (Mary), Sayville, NY, Kathryn McLaughlin (Kathleen), Charlotte, NC, Joseph McLaughlin, Charlotte, NC, Marian O'Connor (Thomas), Port Washington, NY, and Mark McLaughlin, Stony Brook, NY; 21 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be held Monday, January 21st at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC from 5:30-8:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 14740 Stumptown Road, Huntersville, NC on Tuesday, January 22nd at 11:00am. Cremation will follow.
The family wishes to thank Hospice and Palliative Care of Lake Norman, especially Dr. Williams, Kathy, Meg, Maria, Rick, and Ilene for their attentiveness, kindness and love toward Patrick and the entire family.
