Bob, as he was known throughout his military career, served three overseas tours in Vietnam, Okinawa, and Taiwan. He was awarded both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He always loved his time in service to his country and was a true soldier in every sense of the word!

He joined the U.S. Postal Service in 1978 and served twelve years as President of the American Postal Workers Union. Bob was devoted to the APWU, where he fought tirelessly for its members until his poor health forced his retirement in 2002.
Vernie "Bob" Case was a wonderful person with a heart as big as Texas! He was a great friend to countless people and he was always willing to give anyone a hand up. He could build anything or fix anything as long as he set his mind to it. He loved racing and Dale Earnhart. For over forty years he cherished his time with his family and friends on turn three in the infield of the Charlotte Motor Speedway. He loved his hide-a-way at Lake Tillery, time spent outdoors, bonfires with neighbors and especially his prized boat "Lightnin'.
But above all, he loved and cherished his two children. He was always so proud of them and the adults they had become! And in recent years, his greatest joy was being Pop Pop to his beautiful granddaughters Lilly and Belle.
