My thoughts are with your family on this sad loss--Ron was such a wonderful person.
I had the privilege of serving as Ron's admin (my second job out of college) for several years and appreciated his patience, kindness, and wonderful sense of humor as he taught me not to sweat the small stuff and that work bullies could be overcome. He let me learn from my mistakes and find ways to be creative and write, and in turn... I tried to help him embrace technology a bit, but that didn't always work well, as I found out when I turned on his office computer (perhaps for the first time ever) as an April Fools' joke! He was quite dramatic in his response, saying I had given him quite a fright.
He was very supportive throughout the years and a wonderful mentor and friend (I loved seeing him and Lorna at my wedding). I greatly enjoyed our debates over whether the amount of caffeine in chocolate "counted" as a "prohibited" substance (did you know that the cacao bean supposedly changes the chemical composition of chocolate?) ;)
And I loved hearing his stories and obvious love for his grandchildren (and kids!), his trips to Bangor, ME (I think?) to chop wood, his travels, and his service to Habitat.
While I didn't keep The Book of Mormon that he gave me (no offense intended!), I will crack open my copy of Bennett's Book of Virtues in his honor and think fondly back on my happy memories with him. :)
