Ruthie Mae Knaff's Obituary
Ruthie Mae was born on May 4, 1939, in Detroit, Michigan to the Union of the late, Pastor Randall and Lueranah Myrick. On Tuesday, June 26, 2018, peaceably she went to be with her Lord.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were three brothers; Eugene, Randall and Samuel, two sisters; Louise and Marion.
Ruthie was formally educated in the Detroit Public School systems, graduating from the High School of Commerce. She was very intelligent and applied her abilities to successfully earn the Top Gregg Shorthand Awards and typing awards at the High School of Commerce. Her ambition led her to achieve a higher education and she earned a degree from Mary Grove College.
She was very successful in obtaining employment. She held secretarial and computer positions at various organizations including the Federal Government and in the medical field.
Ruthie was united in holy matrimony to the late, Alphonso Knaff at Anderson Memorial Church of God in Christ, Detroit, MI. To this union, two sons were born; Alphonso and Lorenzo.
She was blessed with a very friendly and loveable personality. She loved to talk and laugh, play the piano and listen to music. Ruthie enjoyed singing and participated in the choir and many concerts of Anderson Memorial COGIC.
Ruthie was also blessed to be brought up in a sanctified, Holy Ghost filled home by Godly parents. Along with her family, she attended the churches of God in Christ under the leaderships of the late Pastors, A. Owens, C. Range, S.P. Croom, Bishops; C.L. Anderson, Sr. and C. L. Anderson, Jr. While in her teenage years, she was baptized with the Holy Spirit in the Detroit River by Pastor Croom along with Pastor Gordy. She faithfully participated in various church activities and loved being involved in the life of the church.
Ruthie possessed a deep love for her family. She was very, very dear and good-hearted. She was sincerely thoughtful and kind, always giving gifts and sending flowers. Ruthie loved to travel and bring back gifts and those places of travel included New York City, Washington, DC, London, England and Canada.
Ruthie leaves to cherish her precious memories, two sons; Alphonso Knaff and Lorenso Knaff, two granddaughters; Kiara and Lauren, three sisters; Rebbie Myrick, Helen Payne and Emma Myrick, two brothers; Roman Myrick and Ramon Myrick, a host of nieces and nephews, great grand nieces, great grand nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Ruthie’s life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 14, 2018, in the Chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC with Reverend Harold Hudson officiating. The family will receive guests from 1:00 pm until 1:50 pm at the funeral home.
