Stephen James Piper's Obituary
Dr. Stephen James Piper, 70, of Charlotte, NC, exited his earthly home on December 27, 2025, peacefully and surrounded by family.
He was born February 5, 1955, in Michigan City, IN, to the late James Piper and Betty Hodges.
Steve was a decorated scholar and proudly retired from a successful 40-year career in logistics, to which he dedicated much of his life. Despite all of these accomplishments, his greatest joy—above all else—was his family. He spent 35 beautiful years with the love of his life, his wife Jane. He was a devoted and loving father to his two children and the world’s greatest Pawpaw to his three grandchildren.
To know Steve was to love him, and the absence of his infectious laugh, “dad jokes,” and quick wit will be deeply felt by all who loved him.
He was greeted at the gates of heaven by many friends and family who went before him, most notably his mother Betty, his father James, and his devoted pup, Dixie.
He is survived by his wife, Jane, of the home; son, Aaron of Charleston, SC; daughter, Danielle (Jimmy) of Maiden, NC; grandchildren Easton, Lorelai, and Parker; sisters Deborah, Penny, and Sharon; brothers Timothy (Beth), Michael, Daniel, Jeffery (Debbie), and Gregory; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
