During the summer of 1973, when Suzanne taught math at UAH and I, a freshman English/History double-major, was suffering through Calculus I, "Suzy" (her familial nickname) tutored me in her home for the entire quarter. I vividly remember the afternoons we spent together with Suzy patiently explaining endless formulas through my brain fog. With her help (and encouragement from graduate assistant John), I earned the three math credits required for my degree and abandoned the vagaries of mathematics to the family geniuses.
