Ted Tierno's Obituary
Theodore Robert Tierno (50), resident of Mooresville, NC passed away peacefully on Aug 16, 2022. Theodore, best known to everyone as “Ted,” was born May 5, 1972, at Lower Bucks Community Hospital in Bristol, PA to his parents, Marylou, and Buddy Tierno.
As a young child, Ted and his family moved from Pennsylvania to Texas, where he was raised by his mother and stepfather, Tom, in Amarillo, TX. Ted graduated from Randall High School in Amarillo, TX in 1991. After high school graduation he attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, where he studied and majored in business. Shortly after college, Ted joined the corporate tire industry with Discount Tire as an assistant manager. He started out with the Amarillo, Texas store in the mid 1990’s, but eventually transferred and moved to the Oceanside, CA store in 2001. Ted continued to thrive and advance for over a decade with Discount Tire. He was eventually transferred and moved to a store in Kannapolis, NC in 2003; and established roots for himself in Mooresville, NC.
In 2009, Ted left Discount Tire and joined forces with American Tire Distributors. He started out in the warehouse, and eventually moved up to “Ship2Home” as the customer service representative; where he worked out of the corporate Headquarters office in Huntersville, NC. Ted took immense pride in his work ethics and loved his career. One of his best qualities, and one of the things he loved most about his job was the day-to-day interactions with customers and peers. Ted was a natural at building positive, long-lasting relationships with everyone he met; customers, coworkers, and friends/peers. Coworkers described Ted as, “someone always with a smile.” -- “He was the Best!” -- “He always had a cheerful outlook on life.” -- “He was the “Go to Guy” – “Let’s Ask Ted on both questions and answers needed.”
Diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of 8; Ted became a pancreas and kidney transplant recipient at Duke Medical Center in 2008. Ted became a second kidney transplant recipient in 2019 due to kidney failure/rejection in 2014. Although Ted faced many health challenges from such an early age of life; he maintained a positive outlook on life up until his very last days. His life was good, and he enjoyed life to the fullest!
Ted had the brightest smile to everyone and the best personality. Everyone enjoyed being around Ted, and he never knew an enemy. His hobbies included target shooting with his firearms; hunting and fly fishing; spending time with friends and family, working on his precious Porsche, and collecting WWII memorabilia.
“Never take life for granted or feel sorry for yourself. There are far more people out there that have it worse than you! Enjoy life! Organ sharing Is truly a blessing in disguise!”—Ted
