Uwe Roper's Obituary
Uwe Roper 86, of Denver NC passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023. He was born June 8,1936, to John and Katherine Roper of Hamburg, Germany. He became an engineer and left Germany to work abroad in South Africa and Rhodesia with Pleuger Oil and Gas. He migrated to the U.S. in 1982. His extensive travel brought friends and many stories that he shared with his family.
Uwe played semi pro soccer in South Africa and remained a passionate fan for the rest of his life. He was active in the community and served as President of his neighborhood board. He loved boating and living on the lake. He was an exceptional craftsman and very detailed with any project he undertook.
In addition to his parents, Uwe is preceded in death by his two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carol Roper, his daughter, Jutta Hanneman (Donald) of South Africa; stepson, Michael Adamczyk (Alicia) of Monroe NC; grandson, Mathys and Thompson (Bianca) of South Africa; step grandchildren, Andrew Adamczyk (Alexis) Hannah, Noah, Tori, Justin, and Seth; and great granddaughter, Amber-Jade of South Africa
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 1:00 PM at James Funeral Home in Huntersville. The service will be live streamed on Uwe’s obituary page at the James Funeral Home website.
