William Franklin Marks “Bill” passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the age of 70. Bill was surrounded by family and friends for several days before his death. He was born on January 27, 1947, at Presbyterian Hospital in Cha Read Obituary
I will always remember Bill as "my" Archon and the responsible upperclassman example when I pledged Pi Kappa Phi to become Beta Phi 113. Bill kept the house and party room running smoothly and was looked up to by the underclassmen pledges. Always smiling and cordial. I just wanted to say "farewell Brother". May you rest in peace.
Bill was my high school friend, freshman roommate at ECU, and Pi Kappa Phi brother (Beta Phi 84). Even though many years passed and we were hundreds of miles apart we always reconnected as if time had stood still. I will always treasure his memory and love sweet Glenda for her undying love and devotion.
I would like to send Glenda, and Bill's friends and family my prayers for comfort and strength, especially in these times.
I am Deb (Debbie) Austin, Bill's first cousin on the Marks' side of the family. My mom was Fay, Uncle Henry's only sister and the baby of the bunch. In that picture of Bill, I immediately saw some of the Marks' family resemblance. I live in Ohio now but if I were back home I would certainly be there, sharing in his life's celebration.
We had some great times in Lilesville at our grandparent's home. Huge gatherings, lots of love and delicious food. There were 6 Marks grandchildren/cousins. We all loved Uncle Henry, Aunt Sarah, and Bill. I hate I didn't get to know Glenda. I will be thinking of you. Loss is not easy, whether we have some warning to "prepare" or we lose them suddenly.
I have no doubt Bill is at peace now and will be Glenda's special guardian angel.

First Cousin to Bill
I will miss Bill so much (Bill was my mom’s cousin, so more like an uncle). I wish we had lived closer and could have spent more time together. I wish we had come to visit more after Sarah passed away. I’m looking forward to celebrating Bill’s life and meeting the friends I have heard so much about from Harding and ECU. I know we will all miss Bill, but he left so many heart warming memories and laughter and I am going to take that with me. He was a good man who loved his family and friends and Glenda. You can’t ask for more than that!
Our deepest and sincerest condolences to the family. Words alone can not ease the pain when grieving the loss of a love one. The Bible provides comfort during these difficult times. Revelation 21:3-4 states, "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away". May God give you and your family comfort in your loving memories and in His promise that soon we will never experience losing our loved ones in death and we will be able to see them again once they resurrected as per John 5:28-29. May these words give you a new hope, with deepest sympathy and warmth of heart.
My uncle Bill was a joy and this loss is hitting our family hard. I will never forget the thankgiving holidays in my Aunt Sarah and Uncle Henry's house.. with my father and Bill bantering... later Bill and my father Steve took some interest in genealogy and the three of us, and my aunt Linda took a trip around NC to find our roots. I will never forget that trip, nor all the love and laughter. Rest easy Bill, and we will see you soon!
