William Marks' Obituary
William Franklin Marks “Bill” passed away on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the age of 70. Bill was surrounded by family and friends for several days before his death.
He was born on January 27, 1947, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, NC. He attended Harding High School, and East Carolina (College) University where he joined his beloved Beta Phi Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi – Beta Phi #79. He was twice Archon of the Beta Phi Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi beginning in fall 1968 through spring 1970.
Bill was a soft-hearted man who always had a smile for his beloved friends. He was a manufacturer’s representative for large computer air conditioning systems in construction and asbestos removal. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies at Carolina Golf Club. His passion was sailing on Lake Norman and the waters of the Pamlico Sound area.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Foster Marks, his father, Henry Franklin Marks, his grandparents, William Walter Marks and Lela Harris Marks and Harry Oates Foster, Sr. and Mae Manies Foster.
He is survived by his cousins, Steve Hunt and his wife, Becky, and their children, Katie and Kevin, Linda McDougal and her husband, Doug, and their children, Laura and Elizabeth, Mark Hunt and his wife, Tina, and their children Samantha and Colin, Susan Jannarone and her children, John and Scott, Margaret Friend and her son, Charles, Ellen Layton and her husband, Danny, and their son, Eric and Bonita Foster-Cecil and her children, Katie and Timothy. Bill is also survived by his ex-wife and love of his life, Glenda Johnson Brown.
A Celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 3:00 pm, Friday, February 2, 2018 in the Chapel of James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Inurnment will be private.
The family would like to sincerely thank the angels who cared for Bill, 24/7 at the Serenity House of Huntersville. In addition, the family would like to sincerely thank Hospice of Davidson, nurse, Mary Moehle, social worker, Linda Liles and Pastor Dewey Smith.
